The Communists Party (PCRM) continues to monitor the actions taken by the present government and compiles reports on the identified irregularities. In a news conference on Tuesday, where there was presented the second report, Communist MP Grigore Petrenko said several such reports will be prepared and made public this year, Info-Prim Neo reports.
“The second report was presented Friday at a meeting with the foreign ambassadors to Moldova, based in Chisinau and Bucharest,” Petrenko said.
This time, the PCRM's report focuses on five major areas: freedom of the mass media; violation of the constitutional norms and other legislative documents; infringement of the fundamental human rights and other democratic principles; violations of the Parliament's regulations and procedural rules, and the intimidation of the Opposition.
Speaking about the relationship between the Moldovan authorities and the mass media, the Communists Party's jurist Sergiu Sarbu said the political attacks on the TV channel NIT continued in the monitoring period.
The Communists say the authorities also discriminate the radio station “Ploaia de Argint” as the Broadcasting Coordination Council on January 19, 2010 halted the transmission of the station in Moldova.
The authors of the report describe the awarding of mass media representatives by Moldova's Caretaker President Mihai Ghimpu as attempt to corrupt and/or make the press loyal to the new political power.
Among other violations, the PCRM mentions the ruling coalition's unwillingness to hold early elections, the initiation of the constitutional reform, the non-democratic election of the members of the permanent delegation to the PACE and the registration of the National Christian Movement by the Ministry of Justice.
As regards the violation of the fundamental human rights, the report says the illegal layoffs according to political criteria amounted to over 940.
