The mayors and local councilors who joined the Democratic Party (PDM) have never been members of the Communist Party (PCRM) or were earlier excluded from the PCRM, it is said in a comment of the party’s national electoral staff.
The Communists said that by holding the conference to announce the defection of members from the PCRM, the PDM showed that it is close to despair. “The so-called news conference staged by the PDM, where alleged members of the PCRM announced that they left the party and joined Lupu’s party is an additional proof that money is being wasted,” reads the comment.
“The attempts to promote the party by persons who do not know who they are and whom they serve provokes only pity.”
On October 8, mayors and local councilors from a number of settlements announced that they defected from the PCRM to the PDM because the Communist Party has radical views and does not focus on the problems faced by the settlements.
