A group of persons who represented the primary organization of the Communists Party (PCRM) in Chisinau's Rascani district left the party and will join the United Moldova Party. Iuri Cernomorets, Stanislav Scritskii, Svetlana Varlan and Vitali Klimenko made the announcement in a news conference on January 22, Info-Prim Neo reports.
The four persons said they decided to defect from the PCRM because they are not satisfied with the state of affairs inside the party. They stressed they will be making every effort to prevent the United Moldova Party from making the same mistakes as the Communists.
“I pondered over and decided to leave the party as I realized the situation inside the PCRM and its personnel policy leave much to be desired,” said Vitali Klimenko.
Svetlana Varlan said she respects Vladimir Voronin, but does not agree with the way in which the party holds elections. She added she does not consider herself a traitor for joining the United Moldova Party.
“The United Moldova Party will bring changes in this country. It will ensure peace and will not allow violence,” Iuri Cernomorets said.
Asked by the reporters if they share Vladimir Turcan's opinion that some of the initiatives promoted by the Alliance for European Integration are good, the four former Communists said those who want to support the Alliance should join the parties that formed the government coalition. “We will not back the Alliance in all its efforts,”Cenomorets said.
