The Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) convened its eighth congress on November 19. The congress participants approved changes to the party’s statutes and added new stipulations saying that the Republic of Moldova is a captured state and the current government was formed illegally. The Communists said they do not recognize the legality of the recently held presidential elections, IPN reports.
Chairman of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin spoke about the work done by the party during the last four years, saying the Party of Communists was hit from all directions and was betrayed and abandoned by thousands of members. He noted that the country is in a very bad situation. Agriculture is destroyed and the villages are deserted. Institutions are closed. The PCRM is the power that can take the country out of the crisis. In this connection, the Community leader encouraged his colleagues to anyway get ready for elections, saying the PCRM will insist on holding early parliamentary elections.
Vladimir Voronin criticized the Party of Socialists, saying that when the Moldovan authorities decided to sign the Association Agreement with the EU, this party didn’t oppose and now, after the Socialist leader Igor Dodon was elected President of Moldova, this does not oppose this document either even if the accord is detrimental to Moldova, according to the Communists.
Among others, Vladimir Voronin noted that the PCRM does not recognize the elected President and will not cooperate with this.
