The Party of Communists (PCRM) plans to stage a series of activities to mark the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution. The program contains both local events that will be organized by the party’s local organizations and national and international events. Flowers will be laid at the monument to Lenin, who was the leader of the Revolution and of the first Socialist state in the world, IPN reports.
“For our party, 2017 means the celebration of the jubilee of 100 years of the Great October Socialist Revolution, which is a global event that influenced the subsequent development of processes in the whole world. In many countries this jubilee was marked at state level. In order to implement the decisions of the eighth Congress of the PCRM, the Central Committee drafted and approved a program of activities to celebrate this significant event,” the leader of the PCRM Vladimir Voronin told a news conference.
The politician noted that the party until now staged three scientific-practical conferences that centered on the Bourgeois-Democratic Revolution of February 1917, Lenin’s April theses and the events of July 1917. The activities will end around the date of November 7 with a series of conferences.
On October 27, the Party of Communists, in concert with the Party of the European Left, will hold an international conference on the 100th anniversary of the October Revolution at the Labor Institute in Chisinau. This will involve representatives of 14 European parties of the left, as well as diplomats, experts, scientists, public activists and activists of the PCRM. The event starts at 10am.
The festive plenary meeting of the Central Committee of the PCRM on October 28 is another very important event, according to Vladimir Voronin. The event will bring together members and veterans of the party. The commemorative medal “100 years of the Great October Socialist Revolution” will be conferred in the meeting that will take place at the Palace of the Republic, starting at 10am.
Also, representatives of the PCRM will take part in jubilee events in Russia - on November 4 in St. Petersburg and during November 5-7 in Moscow, where the final festivities will be held.
