PCRM calls again on AEI to amend Article 78 in Parliament

The Communistic Party (PCRM) called upon all the member parties of the Alliance for European Integration (AEI) not to miss the chance of demonstrating constructivism and start discussions on modifying Article 78 of the Constitution in Parliament, Info-Prim Neo reports, quoting a communique from the party. The call comes after the Constitutional Court on July 6 approved the AEI's initiative to hold a constitutional referendum to modify the procedure for electing the head of state. The PCRM says it repeatedly expressed its readiness to reach a compromise over the method of electing the President in Parliament and it did not change its position. At the same time, the party insists on setting the Parliament dissolution date. “Such a compromise will allow using the large amount of money planned for the referendum for solving more important problems, especially for dealing with the floods,” the PCRM says in its statement. The Communist MPs did not yet say whether they will take part in today's sitting of the Parliament set to start at 5pm.
