The parliamentary group of the Party of Communists (PCRM) wants the candidate nominated for premiership to have a prepared team that would obey the Premier, not the political leaders, the head of the Communist faction Violeta Ivanov said after the February 13 consultations with President Nicolae Timofti, IPN reports.
Violeta Ivanov told the reporters that they discussed the identification of a candidate who will be able to cope with all the current problems. “We asked that this thing should be done swiftly so that a candidate is presented next week and we hold again the vote in Parliament. The criteria are clear – the person must be responsible, competent and have experience,” said the lawmaker. According to her, the candidate for premiership could be from the business sector.
Asked if they discussed the reported candidacy of Chiril Gaburici, Violeta Ivanov said the faction is not ready to discuss concrete names.
The President’s spokesman Vlad Turcanu said the Communist MPs presented a list of candidates whom they will not vote Prime Minister. The consultations will continue with the Party of Socialists at 10:30am on February 14. Afterward, the head of state will have discussions with the pro-European parties.
The President resumed the consultations for identifying a candidate for premiership after Parliament on February 12 didn’t give a vote of confidence to the Cabinet and the government program proposed by candidate Iurie Leanca.
