The Communist Party (PCRM) accuses the ruling parties of exerting pressure on civil society. According to the party, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania asked the Moldovan authorities to start a criminal case against Igor Tuleantsev, chairman of the Association “Patria – Uniunea Euroasiatica” (“Country – Eurasian Union”), IPN reports.

According to a statement of the PCRM, the way the law enforcement bodies of Moldova acted reveals that this case was opened by order. The party calls on the embassies working in Moldova and the representative offices of international organizations to react to the actions taken by the law enforcement bodies, which it describes as antidemocratic.

The PCRM says that Moldova’s European course day by day transforms the country into a police state where the human rights are not respected and where the persons who think not in the same way as the government are pressurized.

Igor Tuleantsev repeatedly pleaded against the Romanian nationalists. Things got tense at the start of this month, after Russia organized a concert in Chisinau on the occasion of May 9. Tuleantsev threatened publicly those who were against the concert.
