Subsidies to farmers from the 200 million lei allocated for the purpose will start to be transferred on Monday, November 20. About 2,400 small and mediums-sized farmers who cultivated areas of at most 1,500 ha will benefit from subsidies, Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Bolea, Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, has said.
The official told a news conference that the process of examining the 2,400 files for deciding which of them is eligible is to be completed today. About 1,200 lei will be paid for a hectare. “This money comes in addition to the over 115 million lei that was already disbursed in the form of excise duties on diesel fuel. This money forms part of the so-called packages of measures to support farmers in creating prices for selling products in the period,” noted the minister.
Vladimir Bolea also said that on Friday he had discussions with representatives of the public association “Force of Farmers”. They discussed the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry’s proposal to constitute a working group of representatives of a number of ministries and of famers. This working group, through the agency of local agricultural divisions, will start to collect files so that the farmers in difficulty, primary those from the southern districts that were affected by drought for two consecutive years, benefit from support.
