Defence Minister Pavel Voicu argues that the institution has drawn up a development plan and if it is supported by the Government, there is a chance that in 3-4 years the military infrastructure will be improved or even renewed. According to him, the situation in which he found the field of defence was deplorable. The statements were made on "Direct access" program, NTV Moldova, IPN reports

"We have a development plan starting from the infrastructure. If the Government supports the proposals of the Ministry of Defence, there are chances that in 3-4 years the military infrastructure will be improved or even renewed. A longer term is needed for modernization and development,” the minister said.

Pavel Voicu says that when he assumed office he found the Ministry of Defence in a state that left to be desired. "I refer to the obsolete and neglected military infrastructure, the outdated and corrosion-prone military and fighting equipment. Damaged and dirty barracks ," added the minister.

The minister says he inherited this situation not only from the previous government. This deplorable situation has been passed on from government to government. "Very little attention has been paid to the Army. Many politicians have said that there is no need for an Army, others have ignored the importance of the Army and that’s what we have,” noted Pavel Voicu.

At the same time, in his opinion, over the years, there has been no progress on the modernization and development of the sector, and the budget is only for maintaining it.

Pavel Voicu says that when the new Government was invested, he did not have access to office for almost a week, because of the resistance. "The Commander of the General Staff issued a secret order to tighten the security so as not to allow on the premises the president of the country and me, the appointed minister. The special purpose battalion was alerted for 24 hours and was asked to intervene upon order," Voicu said.
