The activity of the political party “Chance” could be temporarily stopped, and the party will not be able to participate in the presidential election this autumn or in the constitutional referendum. Deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission Pavel Postica said that the CEC detected deviations in the activity of the party affiliated to fugitive Ilan Shor and asked the court to temporarily stop the party’s activity, IPN reports.

According to the official, the CEC’s reports on the activity of “Chance” party reveal a series of irregularities committed by this party. Thus, following the request made by the electoral institution, the court should decide whether or not to allow this party to continue its activity.

“The Central Electoral Commission completed the examination of the actions of the political party “Chance” in the campaign prior to the general local elections and detected a number of deviations and violations. The party was not cooperative, did not submit any documents by the deadline and in the format set by the Central Election Commission. Because of this, we notified the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Justice went to court and the request to limit the activity of the political party “Chance” is to be now examined by the Balti Court,” Pavel Postica stated in the talk show “Resumé” on RliveTV.

He noted that if the court decides to block the activity of “Chance” party for a period of half a year, the party will not have the right to carry out any kind of political activities or to contend in elections.

If the court orders the limitation of the activity for half a year, this means that the party cannot carry out political activities, cannot contest in elections, cannot distribute newspapers or participate in mass information events. This means that it will not be able to participate in this autumn‘s election or the referendum,” said the deputy chairman of the Central Election Commission.

At the November 2023 general local elections, the Commission for Emergency Situations decided to cancel the registration as contenders of all the candidates of “Chance” party. The stamp “withdrawn” was applied on the ballot paper, next to all the electoral contestants designated by this party.
