To have an efficient foreign policy, we need to take into account the general international situation and the foreign and domestic policy, which should be designed to safeguard citizens’ interests, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in the annual meeting of the Moldovan diplomatic service that is staged by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration during July 9 – 11. According to him, the Moldovan diplomatic service should be pro-active and should promote Moldova’s interests and investment opportunities, IPN reports.

“Our objective is for the citizens to live better following our activity as the Government and your activity as the representatives of the Government abroad. We chose the European course not accidentally. This is our only plan and we want to first of all borrow the European principles, approaches and values,” stated the Premier, noting that Moldova has very good relations with the neighboring states and at regional level, within the Eastern Partnership. The adoption by the UN of the resolution on the complete withdrawal of foreign troops from Moldova’s territory is a recent relevant diplomatic success.

The Premier expressed his disagreement with the resolution that was recently adopted by the European Parliament, based on political reasons. According to Pavel Filip, the new tranches disbursed by the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank represent a confidence certificate for the Moldovan authorities and an objective appraisal of the stability  of the macro-economic situation in the country. The reforms done by the Government, in particulars in the banking, justice and business sectors and on the Transnistrian segment, will be continued with the same intensity. “The current Government fulfilled everything it assumed. In the justice sector, we will work more as a developed state cannot exist if the rule of law is not ensured,” stated the official.

Pavel Filip underlined that communication plays an essential role in the foreign policy. To have good communication at foreign level, the internal situation should be understood very well so that there is no place for incorrect perceptions, based on speculations and interpretations caused by political misinformation. The Prime Minister requested the ambassadors of Moldova to inform themselves very well about the current internal situation and to promote the country’s interests and investment opportunities.

The annual meeting of the Moldovan diplomatic service that was held after a hiatus of six years centers on issues related to the activity of embassies and its enhancement, the implementation of foreign policy and setting of new tasks and priorities for a short and medium terms.
