The Republic of Moldova will not cope without financial assistance from outside in the short term, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in the talk show “Reply” on Prime TV channel, IPN reports.

“I’m sure that in the nearest future we will cope ourselves with the situation. We identified a number of reserves in the fiscal and customs areas and will stop the excessive inspections at economic entities and will offer them a relaxation. But all these measures will produce results not earlier than in three months. Until then we will resort to optimization and count on external financing. We count on the loan promised by the Government of Romania and on the unblocking of the relations with the IMF,” stated the Prime Minister.

Pavel Filip noted he will have a meeting with representatives of the IMF in Chisinau on January 25. Afterward, he will issue an invitation for an IMF mission to come to Chisinau as soon as possible. He will also discuss possibilities of unlocking the loan promised by Romania with his Romanian counterpart Dacian Ciolos during his visit to Bucharest.

The Prime Minister admitted that he is concerned about the protests. “I wish the voting and swearing in procedures had taken place in a different, more civilized way. The number of protesters does not count. But the people are dissatisfied and this matters. I wasn’t satisfied with the work of the former Government either. Owing to the political disagreements, the important projects were ignored. The current composition of the Cabinet excludes political disputes. Initially, I was glad that the Platform “Dignity and Truth” mounted protests. Now I cannot say the same,” stated Pavel Filip.
