Prime Minister Pavel Filip said the discussions he has recently with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin were constructive. In the talk show “Fabrika” on Publika TV channel, he noted that the Russian President looked ready for cooperation to him, IPN reports.
“I had rather constructive discussions with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin. The most important message that I transmitted, and I got a response to it, was to return to normal discussions. The wide range of problems that accumulated in the relations with the Russian Federation should be at least discussed for now. That’s why I was assured by President Putin that we will start these discussions and, as you heard, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin comes to Chisinau soon to discuss a plan of measures that would lead to the unblocking of the relations and the resolution of a number of problems,” stated Pavel Filip.
According to him, the economic problems and those related to trade are the most important ones and need to be approached in a different way. “A lot of entrepreneurs from the Republic of Moldova suffer because they cannot export their goods. The Russian market is very important. We also spoke about the list of companies that were authorized to export to Russia and I said that the approach is mistaken and we must switch already from lists to quality criteria,” stated the Prime Minister.
Pavel Filip considers that the problems accumulated between the two countries must be addressed one by one. “We agreed to continue the discussions in this regard and I hope that we will try and solve some of the problems. I consider we should prioritize the problems existing in the relations with Russia and should start from the smallest one to the biggest one,” he stated.
The meeting of Filip and Putin took place on the sidelines of the recent Summit of CIS Head of State and Government.
