Pavel Filip to Jose-Luis Herrero: We aim to have PACE monitoring closed

Moldova’s key objective in the cooperation with the Council of Europe and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is to have the country’s monitoring by the PACE and by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe closed, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with the Head of the CoE Office in Chisinau Jose-Luis Herrero, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press service, the Premier assured that the Moldovan executive is determined to take concrete and prompt measures to promote the necessary reforms and to achieve the set objectives, with the stabilization of the financial-banking sector and the justice sector reform being top priorities.

Jose-Luis Herrero reiterated the Council of Europe’s readiness to have a constructive dialogue and to offer the necessary expertise in the process of adjusting Moldova’s legislation to the European standards.

The officials also discussed the monitoring visit by the PACE co-rapporteurs for Moldova that was scheduled for February 22-23.
