It is very important for the Republic of Moldova to develop its economy so as to ensure a higher quality of life and to promote democracy, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a discussion with district heads on August 3, IPN reports.
“We should develop the country from economic viewpoint. Only then we will have authentic democracy. Only when we have a middle class, we will have justice, democracy and the human rights will be respected as there will be pressure on the government on the part of society,” stated the Premier.
The lack of young specialists is the main problem reported by the local public authorities. Pavel Filip noted that all the Government’s efforts are aimed at stopping the migration of young people. “It is a very complex problem that is related not only to the salary. In the IT sector, the salaries amount to over €1,000, but the young specialists leave anyway. The problem should be treated intricately. The young people want everything: developed infrastructure, medical services, education, another attitude and even entertainment of a high quality,” he stated.
Some of the district heads said they face a shortage of staff event if they offer social dwellings to young specialists and also maintenance allowances and other indemnities. In this connection, the representatives of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research said they are working on a program to change the image of teachers so as to increase the prestige of the profession and attract specialists to schools.
The Premier noted a series of defective approaches have been witnessed in education. “Our problem in education has never resided in the lack of funds. The problem was the lack of a view and of organization. If there is a clear view we will find the money,” stated Pavel Filip.
In the discussion, the Premier also spoke about the reforms done so far, including to strengthen the banking sector and to modify the pension system. He noted the Government will focus on three major problems, namely education, infrastructure and the rule of law, and also on the stimulation of the business community and provision of high-quality medical services.
