Prime Minister Pavel Filip offered his condolences to the Russian Premier Dmitry Medvedev in connection with the April 3 St. Petersburg metro explosion, IPN reports, quoting a press release of the Government’s press service.
In his letter, Premier Filip says the Republic of Moldova is near the Russian people in these hard moments. He reiterated Moldova’s firm position that the acts of terrorism should be condemned and underlined the necessity of combining forces in the fight against this radical movement.
Speaker of Parliament Andrian Candu also send a message of condolence, to the Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairwoman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. “We share your pain and mourn together with those who lost their relatives,” said the Speaker.
According to the news agency Tass, it was preliminarily established that the explosion was caused by a suicide bomber. As a result of the blast, 11 persons died, while 45 were wounded. A criminal case was started over a terrorist act.
