The relations between the Republic of Moldova and the Russian Federation are practically frozen, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in the program “Moldova live” on the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

According to the Premier, the relations between Moldova and Russia are frozen because the two states do not communicate at the governmental level. “We are not at all happy about such a state of affairs,” said Pavel Filip. He noted that the Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Rogozin was also co-chairman of the intergovernmental commission and, given that he cannot come to Moldova, the problems that should be dealt with are not discussed.

The Prime Minister stated that for the Republic of Moldova the relationship with the Russian Federation is important and good relations with Russia are wanted. “Even if we are a smaller country, we want these relations to be based on mutual respect,” stated Pavel Filip.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin was declared undesirable on Moldova’s territory after he made a number of public statements that were unfriendly, denigrating and offensive in relation to Moldova and its people.
