Ex-Romanian Premier Victor Ponta received the Order of the Republic, which is the highest state award in Moldova. The order was handed over to him by Prime Minister Pavel Filip in the eighth Congress of the Democratic Party on December 24, IPN reports.
The decree was signed by President Nicolae Timofti before his term in office ended. The award was conferred on Victor Ponta for special contribution to developing and improving the economic, cultural and social relations between Romania and Moldova.
Victor Ponta thanked for the award, saying that during the next few years Chisinau will have in Bucharest not friends who offer pieces of advice and criticize, but friends who are near in good and bad times.
