Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined the importance of signing a bilateral agreement on the social protection of citizens in a meeting with Italy’s Ambassador in Chisinau Valeria Biagiotti. The interlocutors considered possibilities of developing multilateral cooperation between the two states given that Italy in 2017 holds the G7 Presidency and next year will take over the OSCE Chairmanship, IPN reports.
Among the key areas of bilateral cooperation, Pavel Filip enumerated the development of migration policies, energy sector and environment, food safety and reform of the Carabineer Department. When speaking about the situation of the Moldovan diaspora in Italy, the Premier thanked the Italian authorities for their positive attitude to Moldovans and underlined the importance of signing a bilateral agreement on the protection of the social rights of the citizens of the two states.
For her part, Valeria Biagiotti noted that the developments in the Moldovan-Italian relations are welcomed in Rome. “You can count on the complete support of the Italian authorities in implementing the Moldova – European Union Association Agreement,” stated the diplomat.
Italy is one of the main economic partners of the Republic of Moldova, ranking third by the volume of bilateral trade. Over 1,300 companies with Italian share capital work in Moldova.
