The head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip said the latest political events are a good test for the PDM. The party will carry out a critical analysis of the way in which it worked so far and will adopt new approaches that would bring the party even closer to the people. “The PDM needs cleaning. We made mistakes. I think many of us felt that the party needs a change,” the ex-Premier was quoted by IPN as saying in a press briefing.

Pavel Filip said the parliamentary group of the PDM will be in opposition to all those who will undermine the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the state and to those who will violate the Constitution and the country’s laws, will encroach upon the European values. The PDM will support the bills that will bring benefits to the people. “We will be an active and constructive opposition. After being in power, we know very well the areas of activity and will continue to monitor them attentively,” stated the former Prime Minister.

According to Pavel Filip, the PDM has many professionals. The party takes a step back to take two steps forward. Time will put things right. “Earlier, while we were in power, we didn’t enjoy a veritable opposition. The new government is luckier from this viewpoint,” he stated.

Pavel Filip told the new ministers that the PDM shifts to the opposition from the Government and will monitor all their actions and will penalize them when they depart from the correct path to the people’s detriment.

He also said that the Democrats will propose Monica Babuc for the post of Deputy Parliament Speaker.
