Former prime minister, interim chairman of the Democratic Party, Pavel Filip, argues that at the party’s extraordinary congress, to be held today, September 7, the PDM must answer the question why, with the largest number of seats in Parliament in its history, the PDM ended up in opposition. Also, right before the Congress, the Democrat states that the party is not falling apart, but is strengthening its position, IPN reports.
Pavel Filip says that a foundation must be established for the PDM on which an authentic political construction can be built in the future. Those who do not fit in this foundation will leave the party by themselves, while those attracted to this foundation will join the party. "The Democratic Party reform we are talking about can be included in this framework," said the interim chairman of the party on "Fabrika" show, Publika TV.
According to him, the PDM remains a socially-orientated pro-European party.
Political analyst Corneliu Ciurea considers that the Democratic Party has not yet closed a certain "a chapter" named Vladimir Plahotniuc. According to him, at this congress, the PDM must act in such a manner so as to close this chapter. "The PDM now has a discourse related issue because it does not know what to say about the previous era: criticize or praise it, talk about the alleged PDM mistakes, but actually which are they? Or talk about the social projects that were closed by the new government but were helpful to the people? From this point of view, even the current government, through its hesitant actions, does not help PDM to overcome this chapter”, declared Corneliu Ciurea.
Today, the extraordinary Congress of the Democratic Party will be held, where the new party chairman will be elected.
