Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the opening of the November 2 meeting of the Cabinet, thanked all the bodies and persons who contributed to the proper conduct of the first round of the presidential elections. “Despite the negative forecasts and hysteria of some of the political forces and their leaders as regards election rigging, we showed that we can hold elections in a transparent and correct manner and national and international observers confirmed this. We thank all the participants in the organization of the elections and all the voters and hope that the runoff elections will be held in the same way,” stated the Premier, quoted by IPN.

Pavel Filip said that attempts to spoil the election process were made especially after 9pm, when polls closed and the votes were counted. The Special Telecommunications Center thwarted over 41,000 cyber-attack attempts on the electronic system. The bodies of the Ministry of the Interior also worked properly to maintain public order.

“Let’s keep this atmosphere of correctness and transparency in the runoff elections too,” urged the Prime Minister.
