The Government reform is a fundamental one for the Republic of Moldova and the country’s future depends on this, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in an interview for the public TV channel Moldova 1, IPN reports.

The Premier said the central public administration reform will first of all strengthen the state institutions. “I’m absolutely convinced that many of the problems confronting the Republic of Moldova are due to the weak institutions. A state with weak institutions is a weak state. That’s why I cared a lot about this reform. Surely, our approach was pragmatic and absolutely rational because this is a complex reform,” noted Pavel Filip.

He said they managed to transform the State Chancellery into a center of the Government and to create the reform implementation center. The number of ministries was reduced from 16 to nine. “Now each field is managed by a state secretary and these secretaries are professionals chosen at a contest absolutely objectively and transparently,” stated the Premier.

Another element of this reform mentioned by the Prime Minister is the freeing of all the state-run companies or companies with majority state capital from the control of ministries so that the ministers are not tempted to intervene in the economic activity. The Public Property Agency managed by the Government will be in charge of these companies.
