Pavel Filip: Moldova is interested in learning from Macedonia’s experience in European integration

The Republic of Moldova is interested in learning from Macedonia’s experience in the European integration process, especially in the context of the launch of the EU Strategy for the Western Balkans, Prime Minister Pavel Filip stated in a meeting with the President of Macedonia Gjorge Ivanov, who is in Moldova on an official visit, IPN reports, with reference to the Government’s press service.

Gjorge Ivanov confirmed his country’s readiness to share its experience in covering the path to the EU, saying  Moldova and Macedonia have many things in common. They are both small, multiethnic and multicultural countries that have to cope with the current challenges.

The interlocutors noted the good cooperation relations between the two countries, which is based on mutual respect and confidence. “Our mission is to explore the existing preconditions so as to continue to develop the Moldovan-Macedonian partnership,” stated Pavel Filip.

The officials approved of the positive impact of the mutual abolition of the visa regime that contributed to developing the bilateral relations. Pavel Filip and Gjorge Ivanov confirmed their readiness to stimulate the commercial-economic cooperation, including through the Central European Free Trade Agreement.

In another development, Pavel Filip congratulated Gjorge Ivanov on the recent invitation to join NATO, expressing also his recognition for the vote in favor of the resolution on the withdrawal of the Russian troops from Moldova’s territory at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly.
