Prime Minister Pavel Filip is confident that Moldova will soon obtain the loan of €150 million promised by Romania, while a mission of the International Monetary Fund will come to Chisinau in about a month, IPN reports.
In a program on the public TV channel Moldova 1, Pavel Filip underlined the necessity of immediately unlocking the external financing. “We must develop our economy. For the purpose, we must unlock the external financial assistance, but this will not come until we do not restore the development partners’ confidence in the Republic of Moldova, which was lost by the previous governments,” he stated.
In this connection, Pavel Filip noted that the Government resumed the discussions with the IMF and the Romanian executive. “I’m confident that an IMF mission will come to Chisinau in June and that we will get the loan from Romania. Today (April 28 – e.n.), we exchanged opinions with Premier Ciolos. The first tranche of the loan will be disbursed immediately after we have a first signal from the IMF that they will send a mission to Chisinau,” added the Prime Minister.
He also said that all the conditions imposed by the Government of Romania for providing the loan were met. “We are now conducting the technical procedure,” stated Pavel Filip.
According to him, the dialogue with the IMF advances. “You should not believe that the discussions with the IMF consist of exchanges of letters only. What the IMF requests are things that we also want to do. We will be the government that will establish banking stability once and for all. There is a strategy for eliminating the weak points from the banking system and this will be discussed with the IMF mission when this comes to Chisinau. I hope this will happen at the end of May or at the start of June,” said the Premier.
