The framework of cooperation between the Government of Moldova and the European Union and the prospects of the Moldova-EU cooperation in the immediate future were discussed by Prime Minister Pavel Filip and the Head of the EU Delegation to Moldova Pirkka Tapiola in a meeting on September 15. The meeting also involved representatives of the EBRD and EIB, IPN reports.

According to the Government’s press office, Pavel Filip thanked the EU for the provided support, saying the executive is ready for a close cooperation with the European partners so as to ensure the efficient implementation of joint projects. “I want the money to be used exactly where it is necessary, by ensuring it is managed efficiently. We are open and expect you to help us to together achieve this goal,” said the Premier.

He noted that the governmental team is determined to promote the necessary reforms, even if they are not popular, so as to restore the relations with the foreign donors and to ensure the country’s sustainable development. Pavel Filip assured that the foreign financial assistance will be used efficiency and transparently.

The officials conferred on the sociopolitical situation in Moldova, analyzed the executive’s priorities for the immediate period and set common tasks for achieving the objectives to do reforms and modernize the country. In particular, they discussed the implementation of the project to modernize Moldova’s Railways, the infrastructure projects and the projects to strengthen the capacities of the state institutions, to develop the business sector and to reform the rule of law institutions.
