Prime Minister Pavel Filip expressed his gratitude for the continuous support provided by the World Bank, including the tranche of US$ 33.7 million for the Development Operational Policies that was allocated this July, expressing his confidence that the Partnership Strategy will be implemented successfully until 2021.
In a meeting with the WB Country Director for Belarus, Moldova and Ukraine Satu Kahkonen, the Premier said the Government took a number of measures to ensure economic growth and to increase budget revenues. Thus, in the second quarter of this year, the economic growth was 5.2%, while in the first half of 2018 - 4.5%, IPN reports, quoting the Government’s press service.
The sides also conferred on the package of laws concerning capital amnesty, fiscal reform and the support for businesses.
Currently, the World Bank portfolio includes 13 active projects, the total amount of commitments amounting to $327 million. Since Moldova joined the World Bank in 1992, over $1 billion have been allocated for about 60 operations in Moldova.
