The reduction in the number of documents required for legalizing the foreigners’ stay for work and the extension of the permit of stay are among the solutions proposed for further facilitating the procedure for documenting foreigners, including the entry and stay of investors in Moldova. The subject was discussed in a working meeting of Government officials on July 24, IPN reports.
According to the Executive’s press service, other proposals formulated in this regard were to extend the period for which the permit of stay for work is issued from one year to two years for workers whose qualification is included in the list of priority occupations and to introduce the right to change the temporary stay status of the foreigner without this being obliged to leave the country.
The foreigners involved in foreign assistance projects, the investors or residents of free economic zones and the foreigners who perform teaching activities in culture, health and sport could enjoy concessions when applying for permits of stay in Moldova. The application for being offered a temporary residence permit for work could be submitted online.
Prime Minister Pavel Filip underlined the importance of the measures to attract investors and satisfy the demand for labor force. “We spoke a lot about the facilitation of the visa regime. As we do not have enough labor force in Moldova, we must see what we should do with the residence and work permits,” he noted.
As a result of the analysis of the impact of the labor migration reform launched in October 2017, it was established that the period for providing the right to work and stay was decreased by 2/3. The method of extending the right to stay for work was simplified and the number of legalization procedures was reduced by over 30%.
Pavel Filip requested to facilitate the entry of citizens from the states for which entry visas are required for Moldova. In this regard, there will be reviewed the set of necessary documents and the taxes paid to get a visa.
At the start of this year, Moldova abolished the visa requirements for the citizens of 33 states. For the citizens of 48 states, the necessity of obtaining an invitation was excluded.
