“I understand that each politician wants to gain advantages while sitting in Parliament. They think less about the impact of those bills and what the citizens will gain from them. They think about their political ratings and the party’s rating and what should do else to gain advantages,” the leader of the Democratic Party Pavel Filip stated, referring to the assumption of responsibility by the Government before Parliament, IPN reports.
According to Pavel Filip, the parliamentary opposition “dreamed” of seeing the impasse in the legislature, related to the assumption of responsibility, continue.
“This is actually the role of the opposition, to criticize any event of the kind and to grow politically. It can make statements, can criticize and can do many other things,” Pavel Filip stated in the talk show “Emphasis on Today” on TVR Moldova channel.
As to the opposition’s and former MPs’ assertions that the Government violated the procedures, the ex-Premier said it is the Constitutional Court that should pronounce on this aspect. The last assumption of responsibility by the Government was one of the few such actions that were taken at the right moment and in accordance with the legislation.
“If I had been in the place of Premier Chicu, I would have followed the same path as there was no majority in Parliament. The four bills are related to the state budget and contain amendments to the state budget. I do not see where there are divergences and those bills should take effect as swiftly as possible. There are also the EU’s funds, the macro-financial assistance. It was a matter of urgency,” stated Pavel Filip.
The Government assumed responsibility before Parliament for four bills that contained amendments to the annual budget laws. Under the amendments, the state budget revenues will be raised by 52.4 million lei, while the expenditure will be increased by 1.273,3 billion lei.
