Prime Minister Pavel Filip, in the opening of the June 20 meeting of the Cabinet, commented on the Court of Chisinau’s decision to invalidate the outcome of the mayoral elections held recently. “The decision arouses many questions. There are different speculations that are not in favor of the current government,” stated Pavel Filip, being quoted by IPN.
“Who can gain as a result of the invalidation of the local elections in Chisinau when a number of accomplishments were expected in our country, both at political and at financial levels. It is about large sums of money in foreign assistance. Only half a year is left until the elections. This is the last thing we wanted,” noted the Premier.
In the evening of June 19, the Centru branch of the Court of Chisinau municipality decided to invalidate the results of the new mayoral elections held in Chisinau. The lawyers for mayor-elect Andrei Nastase challenged the decision at the Appeals Court.
