The year 2016 was a year of crisis management and stabilization of the situation, while 2017 will be a year of growth and investments, Prime Minister Pavel Filip said in a meeting with the ambassadors of the EU, the U.S., Turkey and Switzerland, which also involved members of the Cabinet. Among the priorities of the Government’s reform program, the Premier enumerated the public administration reform, health reform, public procurement reform, employment reform and reform of the pay system in the budget-funded sector, IPN reports.
According to the Government’s press service, Pavel Filip told the ambassadors about the main accomplishments of 2016, mentioning among these the signing of a new agreement with the IMF, unlocking of the assistance provided by the EU and other bilateral partners, such as Romania, adoption of the package of reforming laws. The Premier said the national plan of action for implementing the Moldova-EU Association Agreement for 2014-2016 was over 87% carried out.
The Prime Minister said many of the reforms are unpopular, painful and ambitious, but absolutely necessary for improving the quality of life in Moldova. He noted that for him it is very important to make the EU popular again in Moldova.
