Students from national education institutions took part in patriotic education lessons moderated by eyewitnesses to the events of 1991. The event forms part of the plan of activities dedicated to the Memory and Gratitude Day that is celebrated to commemorate those who died in battle during the 1992 armed conflict for defending the integrity and independence of the Republic of Moldova, IPN reports.
The Bureau for Reintegration said the event involved veterans of the Nistru armed conflict. The lessons were held online for students of the theoretical lyceums “Dimitrie Cantemir” of Cahul, “George Cosbuc” of Bălți and “Vasile Alecsandri” of Chisinau.
A moment of silence in memory of the heroes killed in battle was observed during the lessons. “The dialogue between generations is an indispensable element in the process of communicating with young people and of transmitting the memory of the events that happened 29 years ago,” the Bureau for Reintegration stated in a press release.
The Memory and Gratitude Day is celebrated in Moldova on March 2.
