Patria-Rodina seeks internal investigation at NISM

“The manager of the National Institute of Standardization and Metrology wants to ruin the institution by firing the best specialists so that NISM could be afterwards privatized”, the NISM labor union leader Victor Tuleantev told a press conference at Info-Prim Neo. Socialists’ Party Patria-Rodina announced its support for the labor union leader. Party’s president Eduard Smirnov says Tuleantev is being harassed by the manager of the institute Vitalie Dragancea. Smirnov asked PM Vlad Filat to involve and solve the situation. “We request a work investigation to be started and the NISM manager to be suspended”, Smirnov said. Victor Tuleantev said massive sackings and the relegation of experienced workers started 4 months ago, when Vitalie Dragance was appointed. Tuleantev added that he lost his position, that of lab administrator, after he had spoken to the national labor union about these issues. “Our new boss is a businessman, his goal is to get money out of everything, but profit is not this institute’s purpose. It looks like this man was appointed to destroy the institute”, Tuleantev said. Gheorghe Modvala said he was fired when he had 2 more years until retirement. “Now, the electrician does locksmith’s job as well. This proves the current manager doesn’t care about the quality of work”, he added. According to participants in the conference, since February, 10% of the 300 NISM employees have been fired.
