Patenta holders will continue protesting on 20 July 2016, Wednesday, outside the Government building

Negotiations were held with the minister of economy, but the protesters' demands have still been left unmet. The Government is making ambiguous promises just to mislead public opinion. Our economic rights are being restricted and, in fact, we have an anti-reform government. Countless requests endorsed by thousands of signatures received responses that were only formal. Moreover, the SMEs Bill looks more like a code for middle schools. It ignores the Small Business for Europe principles, failing to reflect the “Think Small First!” paradigm.

The protesting patenta holders are demanding the liberalization of small trade and the annulment of the 1 January 2017 prohibition.

The Government fails to grant formal approval to a group of lawmakers who have introduced a bill to annul the small trade prohibitions. This means that tens of thousands of women and men will lose the jobs that they created with their own efforts.

What is striking is that the minister of economy avoided to come out and speak to the protesting patenta holders. This left some with the impression that he was afraid to talk openly about his intentions.

The protest rallies will continue in order to preclude any attempt by the government to drag discussions endlessly.
