As from February 5, the Public Services Agency will issue passports of a new type that will include increased security elements and will have a new design. The new papers will enable to process biometric data and the digital signature, IPN reports, with reference to a press release of the Agency.
The new design of the passport includes images of monuments and tourist attractions of the country, such as the Triumphal Arch, the Belfry of the Metropolitan Cathedral of Chisinau, the moment to Ruler Stephan the Great, the building of the National Museum of History, the museum complex Orheiul Vechi and the Capriana Monastery.
The price of the new passport and its period of validity remain unchanged. Those who hold old-type passports can use them until their period of validity expires.
In connection with the launch of the new passport, applications for obtaining passports in emergency regimes, during one, three, six and 24 hours, will not be accepted on February 5.
The Agency reminds that the Government at the end of 2017 approved a bill on the identification papers of the national passports system. This provides for the extension of period of validity of the passport of the citizen of the Republic of Moldova from seven to ten years for persons younger than 16. The bill is to be considered by Parliament.
