The Ungheni-Chisinau passenger train on Thursday will arrive at its destination with a delay of about 2 hours. Moldova’s Railways said that a technical glitch alerted the locomotive crew as smoke appeared when overcoming a critical climb on the Pîrlița-Cornesti section, IPN reports.
According to the enterprise, the train driver and his helper eliminated the danger, using the primary fire extinguishing means.
The train continued its journey, but smoke appeared again in the electrical equipment section at Bakhmut station. As the train was stationary at the station, the decision was made to request the support of specialized services to eliminate the danger.
The quoted source also noted that no one was hurt and the train is to be pulled by another train to reach its destination.
