A man driving under the influence of alcohol ran his car into a utility pole on Șoseaua Muncești St in Chisinau last night. The male passenger aged 33 died, IPN reports.
According to the Chisinau Police Division, the car was driven by a man aged 25. He was speeding and lost control of the vehicle. The car skidded off the road and crashed into the pole. The driver took a breath test and this showed 0.55 mg/l of alcohol in the exhaled air, which is an advanced state of inebriation.
Criminal proceedings were started against the young man. He was remanded in custody for 72 hours. He faces a prison term of four to eight years and a driving ban.
