The Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) invites the parliamentary parties to a dialogue so as to agree a common mass vaccination and anti-COVID-19 protection strategy. The PAS announced that it will vote for the proposal to simplify the procedure for urgently purchasing COVID-19 vaccines, IPN reports.

In a press release, the party says these measures are essential for swifter overcoming the pandemic and economic crisis. Any political debate on the issue will seriously hamper the efforts to deal with this crisis.

The PAS reiterates that the holding of snap parliamentary elections is the fastest way to political stability. “The current composition of Parliament that is dominated by the MPs of Plahotniuc and Shor does not represent the people’s will and will only deepen the crisis,” noted the party.

Acting Prime Minister Aureliu Ciocoi requested Parliament to allow the interim Government to buy vaccines against COVID-19 by derogation from the law on public procurement so as to avoid the delay in the mass immunization of the population. In hearings at the Parliament’s Standing Bureau, the official said a sum of 137 million lei for purchasing 1 million doses of vaccines was identified in the Government’s reserve fund, in the so-called “immunization fund” of the Ministry of Health and in the funds of the National Health Insurance Company. Additional powers are needed for coping with this wave and for holding talks with foreign producers.
