Several hours before the protest organized by the National Resistance Movement ACUM, some have a barbecue and put up tents others than those of the Movement’s members in the central square of Chisinau. The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) sought explanations from the authorities as to the dangerous situation that is being created, IPN reports.

“On the day of large-scale protests staged by the citizens, the authorities approved an event with barbecue, food, chairs and holiday music! Something like this is inacceptable! We must gather together in a large number in the Great National Assembly Square today, protest peacefully and show that we are not afraid!” the party says in a posting on a social networking site.

In another posting, the National Resistance Movement ACUM says there are dubious persons in the central square who brought tents, chairs, barbecue and food with them so that the risk of provocations and tensions increased there. “We call on you to remain calm and film any action that seems suspicious to you. The violent actions are inadmissible. We ask you to follow the instructions of the protest leaders and moderators,” says the message.

The Committee of the National Resistance Movement ACUM mounts a protest against the government’s departures in the central square of Chisinau starting at 2pm on August 26, on the eve of the Independence Day. The protesters announced they will put up tents and will remain overnight downtown so as to celebrate the 27th anniversary of Moldova’s independence on August 27.

As of 2pm, the section of Ștefan cel Mare Blvd between the streets Maria Cebotari and Ismail and 31 august St and Columna St will be inaccessible to traffic. The trolleybuses and buses will run on București St.
