PAS says conditions for snap elections appeared, PSRM against dissolution of Parliament

The candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu, acting president of the PAS, said that the second attempt to invest the Government was made today and this failed. In such circumstances, the conditions for calling snap parliamentary elections are met. On the other hand, the Party of Socialists noted the parliamentary majority is against the dissolution of Parliament and is ready to have consultations, IPN reports.

“I think discussions will be now held at the level of the presidential administration and the Constitutional Court. We will see how things develop tomorrow. The conditions, as you know, were practically met and snap elections can be called,” stated Igor Grosu.

For his part, the leader of the Socialist parliamentary group Corneliu Furculiță said the formalized parliamentary majority consisting of 53 MPs continues to support its candidate for Prime Minister Vladimir Golovatiuc. The majority is against the dissolution of Parliament and is disposed to have consultations for possibly identifying another candidate.

The presidential administration hasn’t yet come with a reaction.

A quorum at today’s sitting of Parliament was not present after the MPs of the Party of Socialists and the For Moldova platform, which includes the MPs of the Shor Party, left the assembly hall. They said they do not want to take part in the examination of the government program and the Cabinet proposed by candidate for Prime Minister Igor Grosu. Speaker Zinaida Grechanyi said the subject concerning the voting in of the Grosu Government is considered dealt with.
