The Action and Solidary Party (PAS) denies President Igor Dodon’s assertion that the Sandu Government is responsible for the rescheduling of the outstanding payments of the Chisinau International Airport, describing it as “fake”. According to the PAS, the decision was taken by Octavian Nicolaescu, former director of the Civil Aeronautic Authority (CAA), who was named to post by the Democratic Party, IPN reports.
The party noted that namely Octavian Nicolaescu allowed debts to be accumulated for years and he was dismissed by the Sandu Government because he made that fraudulent decision. “We call on Dodon to screw up his courage and ask Chicu and his partners how those debts accumulated until June 2019 and who prepared that fraudulent rescheduling decision signed by Nicolaescu,” runs the party’s comment on Facebook.
In a press briefing after the meeting of the Supreme Security Council, President Igor Dodon said that effort has been made at a number of levels for the airport to be transferred back under state management. Avia Invest is obliged to pay the aeronautical surveillance tax. Last year, the debt to the state was of 118 million lei, for May 2017 – June 2019. But the functionaries signed a rescheduling agreement at the time of the Sandu Government so that those millions were to be paid until May 2020. If they had insisted on the repaying of the debts immediately, not in parts, the concession agreement would have been annulled already.
