The Liberal Democratic Party (PLDM), the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) of Moldova signed a cooperation agreement with the National Liberal Party (PNL) of Romania. The signing ceremony was held within a news conference at IPN on the day there was celebrated the 100th anniversary of Bessarabia’s union Romania.

PNL Romania president Ludovic Orban said the signing of the agreement is an expression of support for the three Moldovan political parties in their efforts to offer the Moldovan citizens an alternative to the government. “I express my confidence and optimism that the three political parties that represent a new wave in politics and a new hope for the citizens of the Republic of Moldova will together be able to offer a serious alternative for the mayoralty of Chisinau municipality and in this autumn’s elections,” stated Ludovic Orban.

PAS leader Maia Sandu said the cooperation agreement is an example of unity of the pro-European, anti-oligarchic forces. In this electoral year, being supported by Romania’s PNL, they have to give a decisive struggle against corruption and those who want to establish dictatorship in the Republic of Moldova. “We should together build democracy and should aim to come closer to Romania by concrete projects in different areas,” stated Maia Sandu.

PPPDA president Andrei Nastase said the cooperation agreement represents unity that should be extended among the citizens of Romania and the Republic of Moldova. “With concerted effort, we can one day become part of the EU, where we will be united by common values and principles,” he noted.

PLDM leader Viorel Cibotarul said the party he heads earlier signed a similar cooperation agreement with the PNL of Romania. The Moldovan mayor’s offices led by Lib-Dems twined with mayor’s offices managed by National-Liberals in Romania. “We want this unity to turn into political actions and we should be those who will bring the union closer,” stated Viorel Cibotaru.

The same day, the youth organizations of the four parties also signed a cooperation agreement.
