The MPs of the Party of Action and Solidarity presented a bill by which they propose a series of stimuli intended for social enterprises, such as exemption from paying local taxes and favoring in the public procurement process, IPN reports.

In a news conference, MP Dumitru Alaiba said the social enterprises play a community role and their contribution to employing disadvantaged persons with low incomes is huge. “Nevertheless, we have only four entities with this status of social enterprise because there are insufficient stimuli. These enterprises help many people who would not have a job if they are not hired by them. We consider it is necessary and imperative to offer much more attractive conditions for developing social entrepreneurship,” stated the MP.

According to the PAS MPs, the exemption from income tax is one of the most frequent requests made by those working in the field. It would be considerable assistance from the state if these entrepreneurs are allowed to invest the money in the development of the enterprise.

MP Dan Perciune said the social enterprises play a very important role in providing social services. They are also an instrument for employing persons with disabilities. In Moldova, the state does not yet realize the utility of this type of activity.

According to the PAS MPs, these measures will lead to the development of the sector and the employment of persons with disabilities and will infuse the social services sector with increased entrepreneurial energy.
