The MPs of the PAS group of the ACUM Bloc said it is regrettable that the MPs of the parliamentary majority didn’t come to Parliament to have a sitting on June 5. According to them, they were to adopt the bills required by the EU for releasing macro-financial assistance, IPN reports.

“Today, we were witnesses to a less pleasant situation. After the prescribed period of self-isolation expired, we call on all the parliamentary groups to restart work and not for the sake of activities, but for the simple reason that we have a number of very important bills on the agenda. These form part of the conditions imposed by the EU for disbursing the second tranche of 600 million lei that is needed by the state for the healthcare and social sectors and for other things that are vital for the country,” the group’s chairman Igor Grosu stated in a news conference.

According to him, Parliament should work so other frontline employees, such as doctors and police officers, do. All the MPs had tests and only two tested positive for COVID-19. The PAS group will insist that the Parliament sitting should be called next week and that the overdue bills should be adopted as a matter of urgency.

“We came to work, while a large part of our colleagues chose to remain at home as they have stayed during several months and got a salary. We made official approaches for the Parliament’s Bureau to come together, but our requests were ignored. We called on our colleagues to come today to work, but thus call was also ignored. We don’t know what our colleagues from the parliamentary majority expect to happen for ultimately coming to work and working for the citizens who elected them,” stated Mihail Popșoi.

According to him, as far as it is known the two MPs who contracted the novel coronavirus got infected outside Parliament and there was no transmission inside the legislative body. Even so, the two weeks expired and there are no reasons for not convening a Parliament sitting.
