MP of the Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) Sergiu Litvinenco said the supreme law, the Constitution, provides that the President invites the parliamentary groups to consultations in only two cases and it is not clear from what position Igor Dodon initiates these consolations now. ”We do not intend to discuss with such a character,” stated Sergiu Litvinenco, being quoted by IPN.
According to him, the Constitution stipulates that the President invites the parliamentary groups to consultations when the candidate for Prime Minister is to be nominated and before a decision on the dissolution of Parliament is to be taken, when there are constitutional circumstances for doing so.
“An invitation issued on his own initiative is not banned, but this is not an express constitutional instrument. Secondly, who is now Dodon to invite the groups to consultations? He is a citizen who was made past history by an overwhelming majority of people of this country! We do not intend to discuss with such a character,” the PAS MP posted on Facebook.
“In general, outside consultations, we saw that this man has great plans for the future. We must tell him firmly that he does not have the people’s mandate for what he intends to do, while the exercise of power in the own name and without the citizens’ assent is nothing else but usurpation of the state power.”
After the preliminary elections results showing that Maia Sandu emerged victorious were made public, Igor Dodon announced that he would initiate discussions with the parliamentary groups. On November 16, the incumbent President had a meeting with the MPs of the Party of Socialist and today is to meet with the Democratic MPs and then with the MPs of the PAS, PPPDA and other parliamentary groups.
