“The resignation of Dorin Chirtoaca was long awaited. Chisinau can be now be taken out of the hands of the corrupt people who took control of the City Hall and we will do our utmost for this to happen,” the administration of the Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) said, commenting on Dorin Chirtoaca’s decision to vacate the seat of mayor general, IPN reports.
“At the same time, we should show violence and political maturity and should not allow the Plahotniuc-Dodon government to thwart the electoral process,” the PAS said in its message.
Suspended mayor general of Chisinau municipality Dorin Chirtoaca announced his decision to vacate the seat in a news conference on February 16. He said the decision was taken in protest at the abuses committed in the city and against him.
