The Party “Action and Solidarity” will not nominate a candidate for the mayoralty of Chisinau until its discussions with the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” on the mechanism for creating an electoral bloc for the 2018 parliamentary elections are not finished. The decision was taken in the March 21 meeting of the party’s National Political Council.
In a press release, the PAS said it realizes the importance of the mayoral elections in Chisinau and of these being won by a pro-European candidate. “At the same time, the PAS realizes its fundamental role in consolidating all the healthy forces of society for achieving the common aspiration of all the citizens – restoring the path to normality, freedom and welfare,” said the party.
New mayoral elections in Chisinau were set for May 20 after Liberal mayor Dorin Chirtoaca tendered his resignation a month ago. The Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth”, the Liberal Party, the Party of Socialists and the Shor Party have announced their candidates for mayoralty. The Democratic Party said it will not have an own candidate and is ready to support a common candidate of the forces of the right and of the pro-European forces.
