The Party “Action and Solidarity” (PAS) and the Political Party “Platform Dignity and Truth” (PPPDA) announced that they will create a platform of the European forces for running in the 2018 parliamentary elections. The announcement was made by the PAS leader Maia Sandu in a news conference at IPN.
“We aim to bring together under the umbrella of the platform that will be created by the PAS and PPPDA all the pro-European and anti-oligarchic forces, first of all those with which we combined forces in the presidential elections of 2016, and representatives from outside political parties and politics in general, as well as respectable persons from different spheres and members of civil society,” stated Maia Sandu.
Integrity and meritocracy are the key criteria that the two parties will use to choose the entities with which they will join forces. “To ensure a clean Parliament, we will form a commission of representatives of civil society and investigative press that will analyze the profile of the eventual candidates and will determine if these meet the strictest criteria,” said the PAS leader.
Maia Sandu noted that to get rid of the Plahotniuc-Dodon duo, all the upright people should unite around an agenda aimed at reforming the country and punishing wrongdoings and should become a force that would return things to normality and would restore the people’s confidence in the Moldovan political class.
PPPDA chairman Andrei Nastase said the platform of the European forces will pledge before society to remove with dignity the criminal regime that ruined the country and drove away a million citizens.
He noted that the list of candidates for the single-member constituencies will be compiled based on meritocracy, while the content of the electoral list will depend on the conclusions of experts who will represent civil society and the investigative media. Andrei Nastase called on the diaspora to become more actively involved in the process of replacing the kleptocratic regime.
The leaders of the PAS and PPDA said they will provide more details about the creation and functioning of the platform later.
