Representatives of the Party “Dignity and Truth Platform” (PPPDA) said that by fielding Igor Grosu for premiership, the Party of Action and Solidity (PAS) and President Maia Sandu lost the confidence of their former allies in Parliament. They noted they haven’t yet decided whether to vote for the governmental team led by Igor Grosu or not, but are sure that this will obtain a vote of confidence from Parliament. Those from the PAS said that if Igor Grosu is voted in as Prime Minister, after a short period of governance they will try again to dissolve the legislative body, IPN reports.

The representatives of the PAS said the candidate for Prime Minister will present an anti-crisis government program and a team of professionals and will ask for a vote of confidence from Parliament. Even if the Government led by Igor Grosu is invested, the PAS will not abandon the idea of having snap parliamentary elections.

“If the Government is invested, as we planned in the case of Natalia Gavrilița, in the short term we will take the necessary economic measures and measures to handle the political crisis and the Government will later try to make use of the constitutional methods for dissolving Parliament,” PAS MP Sergiu Litvinenco stated in the talk show “Secrets of the Power” on Jurnal TV channel.

On the other hand, the representatives of the PPPDA said they were profoundly disappointed by the nomination of Igor Grosu as Prime Minister and such a move distances the possibility of dissolving Parliament and the snap elections are delayed for an indefinite period of time.

“Now that Igor Grosu was proposed, it’s clear to everyone that snap parliamentary elections will not be held. This time they proposed a candidate for being voted in and the Government will definitely be invested. We haven’t yet decided whether to vote or note. The problem is there was no communication with the former bloc allies and the PAS lost the confidence of their allies in Parliament,” said PPPDA MP Dinu Plângău.

After consultations held with the parliamentary groups on March 16, President Maia Sandu proposed PAS leader Igor Grosu for Prime Minister. The Party of Socialists challenged the presidential decree in the Constitutional Court.
